RATHAGOD (Rajuma Bey)
Rajuma Bey (b. 2003) was born in Waterbury, Connecticut and is based currently in Charlottle NC. He is quickly gaining a reputation beyond Charlotte for pushing the boundaries of art with his Avant Garde approach. Bey draws inspiration for his work from his upbringing in an Afrocentric household. His paintings often confront themes of racial stereotypes, cultural taboos, and black representation in the media, with his thought-provoking imagery.
Bey fuses street art, cultural references, and social commentary into his works, as a way to capture the dynamic energy of Black American city life and he often employs chaotic markings and bold caricatures. Bey aims to continue to elevate his practice to reflect his perspective as a young African-American man living in America.
